So, if you’ve seen any upcoming promos for the late night shows with James Corden & Jimmy Kimmel, OR if you recently watched the American Music Awards (AMA’s) or the Ellen DeGeneres Show, you’re probably thinking to yourself, “Self, who is this AWESOME Korean group, and where can I learn about/listen to/see more of them?” Well, my new best friend, I am here to help you out, so strap in and get ready to fall down the rabbit hole that is BTS!!
BTS, an abbreviation of their Korean name, Bangtan Sonyeondan (방탄소년단), is a 7-member group from South Korea. They made their debut on June 12, 2013 as a hip-hop style group; however, what I believe set them apart from their fellow K-pop acts were the lyrics of their songs (often touching on many societal issues affecting the youth, like bullying and not conforming to society’s ideals and standards), and the fact that some of the members were actively involved in writing, composing, and producing their songs. In the world of K-pop, where most groups are heavily manufactured, this is something of a rarity, where a group can have some control and its own input into the music that’s being created. While their style of music has evolved since their debut, the musical contributions and inputs of the members have not.

Jungkook/Jeon Jungkook:

Those were some things to help you get to know the personalities of these seven adorable nerds, but what it really comes down to is the MUSIC!
My gateway song into BTS was a tie between DOPE and Not Today; my mom (YES, that’s right, MY MOM!!! [After 11 years, I finally got her into kpop! *fist pump of victory*]) would be playing these 2 MV’s frequently, and I just got sucked in. So basically, it’s all her fault I’m BTS trash now. *shrugs* #sorrynotsorry

Probably one of my most favorite songs of theirs, which gives me all the feels!!! T.T Also, it’s Insta-aesthetic as heck! *is the heart-eyes emoji*
Fire never fails to get me fired up!!! Ayyy, see what I did there?! I’m coming for your Dad Jokes crown, Jin! Fiiiiiyaaaahhhhhhh!!!

Well, I think it’s time to wrap this up, before I include everything they’ve ever done! XD Some other things that are worth checking out, before I let you go:
– They recently dropped an MV for their remix of Mic Drop with Steve Aoki. The original version they performed during their comeback is great too!
– Their V Live channel is PURE GOLD! Live streams aside, the RUN BTS episodes are pretty funny and adorable, as are their BTS Gayo episodes.
These guys are just amazing. They are so interactive with their fans, and just feed us so much content. Their star is on the rise, but they stay humble and true to themselves, and that’s pretty darn amazing!
